In a political season that is still two years away but already feels like it has started, that comment tells you a lot about where things are heading.

Let’s be honest. 2027 is still far, but no one in Abuja is acting like it.

In 2023, he was part of the G5 governors who worked against his own party’s presidential candidate. That move helped Tinubu. Everyone knows it.

Wike can only do so much in FCT. If the economy improves nationally, if inflation comes down, then the “results campaign” works. If not, no amount of Abuja roads will save it.
*3. Opposition strategy*
The opposition is watching. If they can unite, if they can present a credible alternative, then Wike’s help may not be enough. If they remain divided, then Tinubu’s incumbency plus people like Wike working quietly becomes very strong.
THE WIKE FACTOR
Let’s not pretend. Wike is a political weapon.
He understands elections. He understands how to mobilize. He understands media.
By saying he does not need a role, he is actually taking one. The role of the man who delivers without asking for credit. That is sometimes more powerful than being chairman of any committee.
In 2023, he proved he could influence a presidential election without being on the ballot. He could do it again.
